You're right - it's very cool and kind of odd to imagine God there at the beginning of everything, just hovering over all this nothingness.
When I was your age (in the olden days) my favourite verses were the fluffy ones about God being a nice cuddly father and stuff like that. It's cool that you've chosen such an unusual verse... Good girl! Big choccie bar headed your way.
p.s Top salsa dancing, by the way - you're a natural.
Hey! Ok, my fav Bible verse is this...
Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart.
(Psalm 37:4)
... Which is quite charming!

Hiya everyone at Runway!!
My favorite verses in the bible have a lot of meaning to them, well for me anyway. Revelation 22:12-13 says "Listen! says Jesus. "I am coming soon! I will bring my rewards with me, to give each one according to what he has done. I am the first and the last, the beginning and the end."
and Revelation 22: 20-21 says "He who gives his testimony to all this says, 'Yes indeed! I am coming soon!' So be it. Come Lord Jesus! May the grace of the Lord Jesus be with everyone"
These two passages are at the very end of the bible, and whenever i am down, or upset, i flick to the back of my bible and read these two passages. I don't know why exactly but once i've read them i seem to be more happy. Just knowing the fact that Jesus is coming again, and that He has great plans and 'rewards' for us really gets me excited inside.
there are many more verses in the bible that get me thinking like this, but i'm not going to write them all down.
I'll see you all tonight at Runway!! =P Alex...
Well done Jen and Alex - good choices. See you later.
judges 14:4 therefore beware, and drink no wine or strong drink. i like this because it's telling people to beware, and to not drink. by tom
my favourite verse is revelation 22:14 - blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have the right to the tree of life and that they may enter the city by the gates. i'm not sure why i like reading this over and over again, but when we were reading this shapter in r.e at school, i just liked the way it sounded.
I haven't really got a favourite passage, but in the NIV bible, there's short stories that go with some passages.
In Revelation 5:11-14, there's a story that goes with it called 'Worshipper's Many Faces'. The story is:
Christians are free to worship in varied and unique ways. There is no one right way to worship, as evidenced by the thousands of denominations and churches throughout the ages. Many churches today worship in ways shaped by tradition hundreds ofyears old. E.g.:
Some Christians lift their voices in song, but use no instruments.
Many sing hymns with organs, and may use familiar prayers.
Others have informal styles that include contemporary music and spontanious applause
Some raise their hands above their heads when they worship
Some hold meetings without a formal programme. Anyone in the service is free to take part in leading it.
I like this story, because it shows how there is no right or wrong way to worship God. Going to church is about worshipping God, and should not be ruled by tradition. See ya later!
From what Tom said - judges 14:4, didn't everybody in Jesus' time drink wine very regularly?
If Judges came before Jesus, surelt Jesus would want to live his life to what the early bible said, and so would not have drank wine.
So does this verse mean anything different than 'don't drink'?
Chris.
I think the Judges verse (13:4 actually, not 14:4) is one of those that doesn't apply universally - it is specific to a particular instance. The advice not to drink was given to Samson's mother just before she conceived him, which seems like sensible advice to me.
My favourite Bible verse that doesn't apply to anyone else is 2 Timothy 4:13 - 'Bring the cloak that I left with Carpus at Troas when you comeāand the books, especially the parchments.'
My favourite Bible verse is Psalm 18:29: "With my God I can scale a wall."
If you ever saw me in gym, you'd know why I think the idea of ever being able to do that is so great.
